Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

PROoF dedicates this page to all of the wonderful families that rescued innocent pugs that needed caring, loving homes. This page honors those that have crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge.

In Memory of Gracie.

Gracie was a sweet little girl! I got her from the pug rescue last November in such an awful state, but as you can see in the first picture of her, she quickly became a happy little girl settling in her new home with her new family. As I was holding her in my arms last night I could hear that her breathing had gotten really bad & I could see in her little eyes that she was hurting. I looked at her & told her that I loved her and she tossed her chin up at me as if she knew. Then I asked her if she knew momma loved her & she tossed her little chin up at me again. She was deaf, but I know in my heart that she understood me.When she closed her eyes for the last time, I watched her eyes and I could just see her spirit leave her body as a dove flying away. Even though it was so sad, I felt a sense of peace. I had asked God to let her go to sleep & He did. I had asked Him to let her go in my arms, and He did. I I just didn't want to have to do it. I wanted it to be natural. I am sure I will have many more dogs that will be sick and/or seniors. All I can do is to give them best days of their lives while they are with me. Last night I brought her home & laid her on the couch. Toby & Maggie (my other pugs) knew something was wrong, (of course, me crying was the first clue) but they sniffed her and I told Toby to give her a kiss and he kissed her on her little nose. He laid on the couch at her tail & laid his head next to her and Maggie laid at her head as if they were protecting her. Later when I went to lie down they stayed with her for about an hour & then came to bed. When I got up in the morning Toby was already back out on the couch with her & when I got out of the shower they both were lying next to her again. It was probably one of the hardest things I ever had to do in my entire life, but God has given me strength to endure and a peace that passes understanding. I will miss her very much. I just wanted to tell everyone that Gracie is in a much better place with no pain or suffering. I believe God loves the animals too. If He did not He would not have had Noah put them on the ark with the people. Thank you for your support and all the prayers that each of you have prayed for my little girl along the way. I appreciate you.

Thank you Cindi for allowing us to share your story and make a memorial for Gracie on our site.

In memory of Oswald (Ozzie)

Ozzie was a sweet little guy. He was only with PROoF for a short time but he touched all of our hearts. Ozzie will be missed by everyone at PROoF.

PROoF offers our condolences & prayers to our friend of PROoF, Leslie, and other family and friends of Phil Thurston, who passed away suddenly on 2/11/07. Phil was undoubtedly welcomed by many animals at the Bridge. Certainly a bigger heart for the homeless animals is a rare find. May the Shamrocks fall softly...Blessings to you Leslie and your family and friends.

Our beloved pug, Corky, passed away on March 25, 2008 at the age of 14. It was a sudden loss that will be felt forever. God blessed us with two loving years with Corky and for that we will always be grateful. Wherever you are sweet face, we love you.

There are additional photos of Corky on the Happy Pug Tails page.

Polly and Joan Heil.

Polly was my buddy, friend and most devoted companion. She did not give any grief and was always a happy camper. I live alone and she preferred that relationship but always welcomed everyone that visited. There are no words that can be said that would describe how much she is missed.

Muggy was born in Worcester Ma in 1996.When I got him he was eight weeks old and was so small he could fit inside my hand and sit there.
We were not ready for a puppy and didn't think of all the stuff we needed for him and of course no crate so Paul came up with a idea and muggy's first and last crate was a laundry basket .
We got him in Oct. so when the winter came around he didn't like going out into the yard to go to the bathroom because of the snow so again Paul came up with a good idea of removing the snow from the ground and of course Muggy caught right on and went to the bathroom .
When Muggy got older he was a very smart dog would go to the bathroom just with the sound of my voice I would say go pee and off he would go in the yard and do it.
He loved pizza and I would tell him the pizza man is coming and he would go to the coffee table where the money was sitting take it in his mouth and wait for the pizza man to come to pay him.
He loved going to the doggie park and riding in the car and if there was a dog that was not playing with the other dogs he would go sit with them .
He liked kids and they loved him also and give him treats and of course on our walks he would try to pull me towards there door so he could get a treat like I said before he was very smart .
I had a good 12 years with him and he was a great dog never gave me any trouble and a lot of love from him and we gave him a very good home and we spoiled him rotten . - David Mann
