We will never forget Mandy. She was surrendered by a minister who was moving into a new parsonage and could not risk her peeing on the carpets. Mandy was 13 at the time and starting to loose control. Mandy had been with this family all her life ... we took her, got her through a severe bladder infection and placed her in a forever home ... here she is... relaxed & happy again! |
Aren't we a pack of cuties? Boo Boo is on the left....He was rescued in July '05 and was brought back in to rescue numerous of times. His new family wanted to make sure that he was going to a forever home....and he is....look how happy he is!!! The middle picture is of Odie. He was rescued back in 2001 and is doing great in his home. Odie has recently become deaf but that is not stopping him!! In fact, his mom says that when he gets to go to our Pug Meets he gets so happy. He watches everyone's face and plays with all the pugs. You would never know he couldn't hear. The last picture is all of the boys
together. Rocko was also rescued...he is 9 years old. All 3 get completely
worn out in just an hour after their playdate and sleep all the way
home in the car. |

Bob and Princess are wonderful pets and get along great with their older pug brother, Otis. You see, Otis had lost his doggie friend, Maggie to cancer and needed a friend. It took some time to adopt them because Princess had an infection that had to be cleared up first. Their foster mom was kind enough to let us come over to meet Bob and Princess and introduce them to Otis. Everyone got along just great-and before we knew it, we were able to bring them home. What a joy it is to come home to my pug crew that
is always happy to see me and greets me with lots of wet puggie kisses!

I just wanted
to send you some pictures and an update on my pug, whom I |
Balboa, now renamed Pancho, was rescued in December of 04. He was a healthy pug but it seemed he had behavioral problems and thats why he was given up. Well, his new family is so happy to have him as apart of the family, along with 2 other dogs. He is very well adjusted and happy even though he has some attitude problems hence the name pancho Villa the bandito. His new mom says she is so happy to have given him a second chance and a opportunity to live a good life with a loving family. |

Oh what a joy
our newly adopted pug Abby has given us. Abby, formerly known as Millie,
was found a stray on the streets of south Tampa. Poor little girl,
she had signs of a recent litter of puppies, and she's barely a year
old (according to the vet who checked her).

Happy New Year
Proof! I had a minute and wanted to write you to update you on Ella.
Ella has fit right into our home with ease. She has captured our hearts
and we just love her and cannot imagine why anyone would not want
her in their life. That cute little face and unstopably wiggly tail
are hard to resist. She and her brother Emery are the best of friends
and spend their days wrestling, playing pug-o-war, chasing each other
around the house and napping. They love each other and give each other
kisses all the time, as well as us. Ella is a perfect fit with us
and she will have a happy and comfortable life with us. Ella loves
to cuddle and has actually prompted Emery to cuddle with us a little
bit more. These two little clowns make us laugh and have basically
eliminated the need of television. We can spend hours watching and
listening to them and it is quite entertaining. They are so full of
energy and spunk and barely can sit still in each other's company. She
has the red collar on in pictures and Emery's is brown. In the pictures
of them sleeping, Ella is on the right and her brother is on the left.
Thanks for all your help in placing Ella in her new forever home.

Born
in 1994, Corky is now 12 1/2 years old. He came into rescue in July
of 05. He was adopted in April 2006. He was in bad shape, very bad
shape. He has chronic illnesses which will never go away and requires
attention every day. He couldn't walk and seemed depressed at first.
More than $1,000 later, we weren't sure he would ever get into a forever
home. But this is what we do. We take the ones who need us, as well
as the ones who will be adopted right away. It takes very special
people to be able to take in such a disabled pet. Corky, for example
is what we call a special needs pug. From the foster families who
took such good care of him to the family who adopted him, Corky was
in loving hands. As you can read in their story, and see by their
photos, Corky is loved and very well taken care of. Rescue requires
dedication, foster parenting requires the ability to love, then give
up, that which you have fallen in love with. We in rescue never forget,
not even one of the ones you have held, bathed, treated with their
medication, played with, and slept with. The emotional side goes from
the heart wrenching pain and anguish of taking in one that has been
abused, mistreated, and sometimes emaciated, to making your heart
soar when they find the forever home that will love them the way they
deserve to be loved. This is rescue. We rescued Corky, our 11year old pug, in May 2006. The first day we brought him home to meet the family (which included 2 three-year old male pugs that we have had since they were six months old) he spent most of the day head down pacing around the rooms getting used to the smells and the new environment. The first week he paid little attention to Romeo & Brutus, would nap on the kitchen floor, and pretty much kept himself. We knew he was prone to ear infections and his ears would need to be cleaned frequently and monitored constantly. We knew he would need medication for his eyes twice a day every day for the rest of his life. We knew his weakened back legs (made even more noticeable by his uncurled tail) would necessitate we carry him up and down the stairs and pick him up to put him on the bed or sofa. What we soon learned was that Corky has an unmatched zest for life. His back legs may be weak but that does not stop him from chasing Romeo around in the yard. His vision may not be all that great but that does not stop him from trying to steal the best chew toy from Brutus. His daily routine of eye medication and ear examinations must be frustrating to him but his tail wags the entire time and begins to curl just a little bit in anticipation of the treat he knows is coming. He loves to go for walks, he loves to swim, and he loves going for rides in the car to look out the windows. His back legs have strengthened tremendously; imagine our surprise when we found the little monkey had climbed up three steps to the entry way landing so he could bark at the cat outside with Romeo and Brutus. He's a smart little man; he will let you know when he has to go potty, lets you know when he wants to be picked up or let down, and he is definitely not shy about letting you know when he his hungry. His favorite places are sitting on the recliner with his dad or laying in the "pug pile" with Romeo and Brutus on his moms lap. But most of all he is a little love. When he is really excited he will give little kisses, but for the most part he shows his affection with little nuzzles of your hand or ear or leg. Sometimes he will just stand next to you, just barely touching, so he knows you are there and you know he is there. After a long, hard day with all our boys snuggling in for a nap, just a small pet on the top of Corky's head will earn you a look of love so pure you really can't help but feel that it was not us that rescued him, but Corky who rescued us. |
We are so thrilled to have Brady in our home. We couldn't imagine not having him here with us now. He is loving, grateful, and very laid back. His favorite thing to do is put his front paws up on the couch, his way of asking us to pick him up and have us cuddle him. He loves snuggling up to my fiance, Scot, and snoring as loudly as he can while we watch TV. He's come out of his shell a lot... he loves to gallop during his morning walks and has begun to be more palyful and carefree. He's perfect!! No accidents in the house and no bizarre behavior. I knew it when I saw Brady's picture on your website while I was in San Francisco that he was meant to be the pug for me. The three of us (Brady, Scot and I) couldn't be happier together! He is the star of our neighborhood, too!! People stop in their tracks to pet him and ask about him. I have told everyone about Pug Rescue of Florida (PRoOF)! Hopefully all pugs will find their forever homes, and families will find their forver pugs! :) All my best!! |

My
son wanted a cuddly dog and that is what he got! Petey the pug (pictured
left) is a real sweetheart. We currently have a blue tick coonhound
named Pebbles, she is a rescue dog from Asheville, North Carolina. She
was sad and lonely; to the point of having to take antidepressants.
Now she has found a forever friend in Petey and our veterinarian has
instructed us to cut Pebbles medication in half! Petey has added life
to our home, he's playful and snuggly with all of us. It is such a good
feeling to see my two "babies" playing together. Already,
they are inseparable.

I had recently lost a pug prematurely to a medical condition and knew that I needed and wanted another to help fill the void. When I saw Frankie (above) I knew he would be my new companion. We bonded immediately and he has brought me nothing but joy, laughter and happiness. He is well-mannered and loves to play fetch with his stuffed toys as well as go for frequent long walks and outings. He gets so excited for food or car rides that he does the most adorable twirling dance and snorts. His original owner is in the military and would be going overseas. Instead of having Frankie fostered for an extended period of time, he made one of the most difficult decisions a parent could make and that was to give him up for adoption. I will always be grateful to him as well as PROOF for giving me the opportunity to become Frankie's forever mom. Not a day goes by that I don't say a prayer for Frankie's daddy's safety. |

Pricialla(right) and her new roomie Dixie enjoying a siesta together in her new forever home. She has been lucky enough to find a new mommy who cooks for her, her own personal chef! It takes a special family to handle pug allergies, and she is glad they found her. |
This is Buddy with his new family. Buddy doesn't know he's a pug, he prefers other dogs over pugs. He came as a foster, and decided this was where he was going to set up permanent camp! The "others" don't seem to mind. |

Since we have gotten Capone (the daddy and the smaller one here) and Deniro (the slightly chubby one) they have been a constant joy in our lives. We love to take them on walks and to the beach. They have become adament about sleeping on our bed so we may need to upgrade to a king. Capone and Deniro are inseperable and they love being together. I am so happy we were able to have both and Ilove watching them become more and more of our family everyday. They truly are like having two little humans living with us. They are full of personality. |

Here is Sadie,
formerly known as Lola, and her new favorite places to sit. Sadie
loves to sit with her Mommy and baby brother Zan (3 months). Sadie
also likes to sit by Zan's crib in his Elmo chair. Since we have brought
Sadie home she has looked after her brother like he was her's. It
has been a joy to have rescued her and make her a part of the family.

Cricket has made himself quite the home here and we just love him! He is so lovey and great! He's doing well in his new home and very happy. Just look at that smile! |
I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Milo (aks Sammy). He's doing very well and starting to acclimate to our family. I swear he is the sweetest little guy ever. |

I just wanted
to let you know about Brindle after we adopted him a little over a
year ago. He has been a great addition to our family. Our other Pug,
Pugsley, absolutely adores Brindle. Pugsley is a bit head strong and
rarely comes when I call him. However, whenever Brindle starts barking
to let Pugsley know that it is time to go inside, Pugsley will come
running.

Moye
is doing very well. He doesn't leave my side all day and is so snuggly
at night. All three get along so well. He is a bundle of energy so
when he lays down I try to get the camera quick. Thank you so much
for bringing him to our family. |

My name is Kelly, Charlie's mom. My husband and I love him to pieces! He really fit into our family right from the moment we took him home. He is so sweet and cuddley, but with a fun spunky personality that I still cannot get over! I want to send a special thanks to the wonderful young woman that rescued Charlie and to his foster mom. You helped us get this perfect little bundle of joy! No matter what, he will always be thought of as our first baby! Thank you Pug Rescue for bringing us all together! We cannot wait to adopt our second pug from you hopefully later this year. After all, Charlie is DEFINATELY ready to have a sister to play with!

We just wanted to share how wonderful it has been adopting Max and bringing him into our home. Max was adopted right before Christmas in 2007. Max is an eight year old, diabetic pug and we were a little nervous about his condition; however, he is so easy to care for. We have never seen a pug so well behaved. Max never marks in the house, barely barks, and he is all snuggles and kisses. Max is definately a daddy's boy who loves riding in the Jeep and sitting next to his dad on the sofa. Corky, one of our other pugs, has especially taken to Max. If Corky is not next to his mom it usually means he is next to Max. The addition of Max makes us a family with four pugs; he has completed us. Here are some pictures of Max. - The Barry Family |

My name is Jose Perez and my fiance Cynthia Cancio had adopted a pug from you guys back in May 2006. At the time the dog was called Tasha and since have renamed her Daisy. She is one of the sweetest dogs anyone could ever own, and feel very lucky we got her. We were warned about her being aggressive to other dogs, but have since adopted a little black pug and they both are now inseparable. |
